Computers Becoming Obsolete

compFor those of you out there who don’t have a career that involves you sitting at and using a computer all day like I do, you may be finding yourself spending way less time on your computer than you may have in the past even though the technology is getting better while the prices are going down.

So what is the reason for this decline that you may be noticing?

Smart Phones

Well the answer is probably right in your pocket or even in front of your face at this very moment. That is correct; smart phones.

Who else has noticed that whenever you are out in public, almost the majority of people are staring down at their phones instead of looking ahead of them? These phones have gotten so advanced that besides certain programs, they can pretty much do anything that your computer can do without having to even leave the couch.

What’s better is that you can take them wherever you go and they still do everything they can do at your house. With data plans being so readily available and getting cheaper, wifi isn’t as necessary as it was in the past and it has truly been an amazing process.

In addition to all of this, having certain apps for things that you know you will be looking for eliminates the need to search through pages and pages of search engines and you can get whatever you are looking for with a simple click of the thumb.

About the App

phineA major focus on developing the Pacific League Baseball App was the ease of navigation. There is nothing more annoying than an app or a website that is hard to find your way around and you should never spend more than a few moments looking for a page. For the design of the app, we focused on being able to navigate to any page or function within the app from every single page.

This should be rule number 1 for any web developers out there. The easier your app or website is to navigate around and get to the page you are looking for, the quality immediately becomes much better. You never want your users to be staring at their phone or computer getting frustrated looking for a page that they know exists but simply cannot find.

There weren’t any actual games that you could play on the app or anything of that nature. The purpose of the app was for hardcore Pacific League fans to have a single place they could turn to for any information or stats that they could ever want. Whether it be looking for the next game or trying to find who hit the most home runs in a season, the information was somewhere to be found and it could be found directly from any single page throughout the app.

The Pacific League App

appFor those of you who don’t know, the Pacific League is one of Japan’s 2 professional baseball leagues and it is probably bigger and more popular than you might think. Japan doesn’t necessarily have the reputation for baseball like we obviously do here in America, but it is a close second behind soccer.

The Pacific League App was designed to give fans an amazing experience on their smart phones and provide users easy access to all things Pacific League, loaded with any information they could ever want.

Now that I am no longer affiliated with the team that created the app, I would like to use this page as a way of saying thank you and talk about how amazing apps like this have become and how far technology has been advancing over recent years.

Once smart phones were developed and released, it opened up an entirely new world and it is continuing to evolve with new apps emerging every day. Now pretty much everything you would ever need is at your fingertips and a few pushes away.

Apps started gaining their momentum when games were popular and I think that the majority of people downloaded them for this reason. It was then that companies started to see how convenient and useful apps could really be and the rest is history.
